Day 1 – Friday 29th May
A civic reception will be held at County Hall, Portlaoise for the launch of this event at 7:30pm. This provides the Chairman of the Gordon Bennett Committee, Mr John Corcoran, with an opportunity to welcome all in attendance to this special motoring festival and to outline the events over the next three days. Over the years, those in attendance who have travelled over from the UK and Ireland would have heard about the historical aspects of the race and Ireland in general from the various guest speakers. This year, a short film on the historic 1903 Gordon Bennett cup race will be shown followed by refreshments.
Day 2 – Saturday 30th May
All cars to assemble at Treacy’s, the Heath, at 10.00am for a 10.30am start. The cars will travel the Laois Heritage route to Vicarstown, to view a very important tractor collection and afterwards they will continue on their journey to County Hall, Portlaoise to park up to prepare for the assignment of the Rose regional finalists and rosebuds to the cars participating in the parade down through Main street Portlaoise and back to Plaza centre where the current Rose of Tralee will make a presentation to the driver of the car chosen by her as the Rose’s “choice of car”. On Saturday night starting at 8.00pm, there will be a gala dinner in the Gandon inn.
